Christ Visits St. Barbara in Prison

St. Nicholas Cathedral, Ljubljana, Slovenia

In a Syriac vita the governor of Heliopolis orders Barbara tortured "so that her body should be bathed in her blood." She is then thrown into prison, but Christ comes in the night with words of comfort and heals all her wounds (Lewis, Select Narratives, 80-81).
